I am an artist living in Lowell, MA.  My current work is inspired by the history and character of the city and the old buildings downtown.  I take photographs of areas of the city that capture my attention.  I make drawings from the photographs and then collage and paint on top of the drawings to create my finished work.  I use a variety of papers to collage with, mostly old yellow book pages that I have painted.  I hope that my work conveys the appreciation that I have for the character and the history of the city.  Looking at the old buildings and canals makes me feel like a very small part of the city's story.  It makes me think of all the people who have lived here, worked here and what their stories are.  I think of how many of the buildings have been around for generations, bearing witness to it all.  I think of the stories the buildings could tell.

Aside from making collages, I also enjoy working with clay.  I went to Massachusetts College of Art for my BFA with a concentration in ceramics.  I mostly make functional pottery, and have dabbled a little bit with sculpture.

In 2007 I started my current job, teaching art in the town of Wakefield, MA.  I currently teach grades 5-8.  I find my job challenging and very enjoyable.  I learn a lot from my students and from the process of teaching.
